Proud president of MSC Cruises, Rick Sasso presenting an in depth view of the evolution of the passenger ship industry from the mighty trans–Atlantic greyhounds of yesteryear to that of today’s modern mega cruise ships / Having been involved with ships and shipping most of his life, his live presentation at SeaTrade 2018 rivaled some of today’s best Maritime Historians /

Well then, let’s do a general inspection of her before she gets underway /

At 153,516 Gross Registered Tons, the MSC SEASIDE is quite a large vessel to say the least / From top to bottom she sports some 20 decks accessible to her 5,427 passengers at full capacity and yet she doesn’t seem to give you that cramped feeling of being at Times Square on New Year’s Eve to see the ball dropping /

Please note that a Gross Registered Ton [GRT] is not really a weight measurement, but rather a measurement of volume in enclosed space / One Gross Ton is roughly equaled to 100 cubic feet of enclosed space /

If you think you’re in the Twilight Zone with Rod Serling, guess again, you’re on board the MSC SEASIDE looking at just one piece of artwork that enhances her numerous bulkheads [ship’s walls] throughout the vessel / An on board art gallery does allow you to purchase certain ones, if that’s your goal /

But if a before or after dinner drink is your fancy then by all means you’ll want to see the endless beauty of the sea, day or night, from the Observation Lounge up forward several decks above the navigating bridge /

Did you do something different every hour besides eating and more eating the delicious food that you didn’t have to cook? / Did your on board bucket list include a beautiful sunrise to an awesome sunset? / And who knows you might have just seen that seldom viewed green flare as the last of the day’s sun had dipped below the clear horizon /

Over is this cruise, but its memories shall last a lifetime! / Thank You MSC /
